Company. The speaker follows each title. All talks average
45 to 55 minutes in length, and are accompanied by slides,
except where noted. We travel with our slides in Kodak carousel-type
projectors. Please note that for Leon's talks he will need
two Kodak carousel-type projects with lenses of equal focal
length.
"Orchid Species for Under Lights", William A. Rhodehamel.
This talk covers some of William's personal history and the
ideas he uses to approach the concept of orchid growing.
The slides cover some 60 species in a number of genera with
which he had personal experience with under lights. Specific
cultural advice is offered for the pictured species.
"Warm Growing Species", William A. Rhodehamel. A review of
some more unusual species which will do well growing in warmer
climates. Approximately 65 slides.
"Growing Orchids in the Home", William A. Rhodehamel.
Considerations for the home orchid grower, with species
consideration for the novice. Approximately 50 slides.
"Basic Culture for Orchid Species", William A. Rhodehamel.
Reviews the cultural requirements for species orchids, as
differing from hybrids. Species for the novice are suggested.
Approximately 55 slides. Also available without slides as a
general question and answer discussion of basic culture.
"Cultivation & Conservation of Angraecoid Orchids", William A.
Rhodehamel. Cultivation of these jewels of Africa and Madagascar
is reviewed, and 70 or so slides cover species in the major genera.
"Catasetinae and Their Culture", Erich Michel. Covers the common
genera in this fascinating group such as Catasetum, Cycnoches and
Mormodes, a few uncommon genera, and some intergeneric hybrids.

Important aspects of culture for Masdevallias are covered, along with more than
60 species. The slides cover plants which are good for the beginning grower,
as well as some rare and desirable species.
"An Introduction to the Pleurothallids", William A. Rhodehamel.
An introduction to one of the largest natural groups of orchids, with a
description of the group, its culture, and a review of many of the 28 genera.

"The Subtribe Stanhopeinae and its Culture", Erich Michel. An overview of the
major components of the genera Stanhopea, Coryanthes and Gongora, as well as some
minor genera. Some 60 slides illustrate the species discussed.

Representatives of all of the genera, and most of the species, of orchids which

of orchid seed propagation covering the full procedure from pollination to deflasking.

"Conservation & Seed Propagation of Orchid Species", William A. Rhodehamel.
Conservation through seed propagation is discussed, and the laboratory processes
for seed propagation is illustrated by the 60 or so slides.
"Conservation Questions", William A. Rhodehamel. An engaging discussion of
questions raised by orchid conservation and conservation in general. No slides.
"Jewel & Painted Leaved Orchids", Leon Glicenstein. The exotic world of orchids
grown more for their attractive foliage than for their flowers. Culture is
emphasized and species and new hybrids are shown. Two projectors, 160 slides.
